2022 Lo & Behold Monterey Pinot Noir, Monterey County, USA
$22.00
Sourced from sustainably farmed vineyards near the Santa Lucia Highlands corridor in Monterey County, this Pinot Noir captures the region’s hallmark elegance and precision. Cool Pacific breezes, foggy mornings, and rocky loam soils encourage slow, balanced ripening, resulting in vivid red-cherry and wild-berry flavors. Grapes are gently destemmed with partial whole-cluster inclusion and fermented in small open-top tanks, then aged 8–10 months in neutral French oak to integrate subtle spice and fine-grained tannins. Bottled unfined and unfiltered, it delivers bright fruit, savory earth, and a lingering coastal lift. Led by Joe Otos—a veteran winemaker with more than two decades of experience in Northern California and Sonoma. Known for his consulting and custom-label work (including the acclaimed Axios wines), Joe partners closely with growers to highlight each vineyard’s character. The label’s emblem—an elephant poised on a ball—symbolizes the same sense of poised balance and quiet strength that defines these wines. Like the elephant, the Chardonnay and Pinot Noir combine power with grace, demonstrating Joe’s low-intervention, precision-driven approach and delivering wines of depth, equilibrium, and effortless drinkability.
