2022 Skelin Dalmatia Lasin, Dalmatian Coast, Croatia
$23.00
Varieties: 100% Lasin
Appellation: Dalmatia
Annual Production: 6,000 bottles
Alcohol: 12.8%
Climate: Mediterranean, with dry and hot summers, and mild winters
Terrain: Inland locations near the beautiful and historic town of Šibenik, on the Miljcevi Plateau. Deep karst rocky landscape dominated by intense red soil (terra rosa) and heavy solar exposure. The vineyards see some of the warmer temperatures in Northern and Central Dalmatia, with interestingly cooler nights and constant breezes.
Farming: Practicing organic,no irrigation
Vinification: Destemmed, fermentation begins after 2 days and continues at low ambient temperature. The wine is pressed off skins midway through fermentation and finishes in inox. After fermentation has finished, it naturally settles for one week and then racked. Sees light filtration and minimal sulphur addition at bottling.
Notes: In a region known for reds with muscle and brawn,Lasin is the outlier, being one of the most delicate in the warm and rugged Dalmatian growing conditions. Lasin can be hard to find, and even harder to grow, but can offer some of the prettiest results you can find.
Tomislav’s Lasin is an exciting refreshing red from Dalmatia, popping with red fruits and dried rose petals and sage on the nose, the palate is mouthwatering with sour cherry, raspberry and super gentle tannins. Enjoy with piles of pršut (prosciutto), roasted chicken, burgers, or grilled squid with lemon.
