2023 Markogianni Winery Vorias & Helios Roditis PGI Illia Peloponnese, Greece
$26.99
Roditis Alepou, vines 35 years old, farmed organically on sandy clay. This is part of their ‘low-intervention’ range. Spontaneous fermentation in open wooden vats, with the skins for the first 12 days. Takes another 2 months for the ferment to finish. Then 4 months on fine lees.
Mid, cloudy orange-gold. Complex salty-sour apricot nose. Bitter orange. Dry, gently tannic, lots of flavour but not obviously Roditis. Deep and chewy with a bitter-fresh long finish.
