2023 Whitcraft Winery Sanford & Benedict Vineyard Pinot Noir, Sta Rita Hills, USA
$84.00
Planted in 1971 by Richard Sanford, Mr. Organic. This block was planted in 2008 to the clonal material off the original 1971 plantings which mutated long ago and Sanford named the “Own Clone” since it’s their own unique variation of Pinot. Great pedigree. Perfume, roses, baking spices...it would make an excellent perfume. Marshmallow and pink peppercorn, wants fatty gamey meat like duck. The mouth is satin finished, with a little weightiness from 14% abv. (slightly higher than normal but indicative of the vintage). - Drake Whitcraft

New Whitcraft Drop (Chenin, too!)
We just love this drop from Drake Whitcraft, whose 2+ decades of winemaking is a revival of an old-school approach to Santa Barbara fruit. '23s are here, plus his Stolpman Chenin - a new entry for the east coast.
