2024 Outward Potrero Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon, San Luis Obispo Coast, USA
$48.00
Potrero Vineyard is located deep in the Arroyo Grande Valley and is part of the 3500-acre Rancho Arroyo Grande property adjacent to the Garcia Wilderness. It is not unusual to spot foxes, bobcats, wild pigs, coyotes, and even the elusive central coast bear roaming amongst the vines here. Potrero Vineyard was planted in the 90s, and is home to these head-trained, dry-farmed Cabernet Sauvignon vines. Potrero is situated at the highest elevation of all three vineyard sites on the ranch and the soil here is predominantly sandy loam with a subsoil of diatomaceous earth. This is our first vintage working with Potrero Vineyard and we are delighted with the result! The grapes at this site boast incredible flavor and concentration.
winemaking. We harvested the Cabernet at two different times, roughly 10 days apart, in early and mid October.
100% of the grapes were destemmed. A combination of pumpovers and pour overs were used for gentle extraction and cap management. Each lot was fermented on the skins for roughly 20 days. After fermentation, the wine was pressed and aged in neutral French oak barrels, including one puncheon, for 10 months. Minimal sulfur was added for stability before bottling without fining or filtration. With no new oak influence, this wine is all about showcasing pure, unadulterated Cabernet Sauvignon. Our Cabernet is an ode to the old school Cabernets of early California wine.
A lush bouquet of brambly berries, tobacco, perfectly ripe plum, and cocoa powder co-mingle in the glass while lengthy vanilla and supple tannins carry out the finish.

Why We ♡ Cab
Cabernet Sauvignon. Some see it as the most important grape, others the most overplanted.
In my opinion, it’s one of the most serious varietals when made right.
