2023 Sylvie Augereau 'Rejouissances' (Pineau d'Aunis / Grolleau), Loire, Vin de France
$33.00
Sylvie Augereau has been a champion of France's natural wine renaissance. T. Edward is lucky to have Augereau join BOBO Selections with her line of wines. In addition to winemaking, Augereau is an accomplished wine writer and the founder of the annual festival, Le Dive. She had always had an eye on a vineyard near the Le Dive site with old, twisted vines. And in 2014, her dream came true and the vineyard went up for sale. She purchased 1.4 hectares with co-planted vines of Chenin, Cabernet, Grolleau and Pineau dâAunis. No machines are used on the land. All work is performed by hand, foot, or horse and guided by biodynamic practices that harness the invisible dimension that one can only sense or feel.
A vibrant and joyful red wine made from 50% Pineau d'Aunis and 50% Grolleau. It has a bright ruby color with aromas of fresh red berries, crushed herbs, and a subtle earthiness. On the palate, it is light to medium-bodied with lively acidity and soft tannins. Flavors of tart cherries, raspberries, and a hint of spice lead to a refreshing, slightly chalky finish
